Anybody else had an out of body experience as such?

Question

i had one- a couple when i was real young

around 3-4

it's always left me confused

i was in my body but i could see myself sleeping

yet it was realistic thing that were happening

i remember the last time this happened was the morning of my fourth birthday

Does anybody know more about these type of things or have a personal experience with it?

Not sure if it was exactly astral projection or just obe but it was really strange

I had a dream that I was on my back patio, it was night, and the wind was blowing, and I could hear the wind chimes.  I opened my eyes, and was staring at the dark living room from the chair I'd fallen asleep in.  It was extremely frightening for me, because I thought I was outside, and then I wasn't.  I don't know if out of body experiences are supposed to be frightening though.  I was shocked and my heart was racing.

a few times but only when something really bad happened it is usually caused by stress excitement or just a really bad experience such as a car wreck or something.
