Anybody else having problems with the 'new' Canidae?

Need to switch from Canidae to ??? I have used Canidae for a long time and for those of you privy to the recent formula switch, my dogs are not handling the increased protein. I had the same problem with Innova, Evo and California Natural which was what led me to Canidae originally. I have been looking at Solid Gold and Blue Buffalo. I have read through a gagillion comments on both foods and after a while it is just too much! So, I'm wondering if anyone else out there has had to switch off of Canidae, or if you have used or do use either of these foods? I have Cockers so input from people with similar size breeds and energy levels would be helpful as they seem to be the ones that struggle with those higher protein/calorie foods.

I have several friends who used to feed it, but have had to change since the new recipe. I never fed it myself. I feed Wellness and my dogs are doing great on it.

I wish these companies would not chop and change recipes the way they do as it causes problems for so many people.

I had the same issue on several off the better brands such as Orijen, and Evo. Despite my swithching over gradually there was random vomiting and sludgey stool. I put them on Blue Buffalo and they are doing great! Less mess, happy healthy dogs with noce coats. I know the hardcore people dont always love blue buff because of its lower protein contnt but the ingredients are all good quality and its much softer on touchy tummies. I am so annoyed.  I switched to Canidae two years ago for my two Brussels griffons, one of whom had a very sensitive stomach.  She thrived on it, after being hospitalized twice with stomach issues and diarrea.  Now her stools are filled with mucous , and when I checked the food, it's changed considerably.  I had my two sisters switch foods to Canidae way back when, my breeder, and three friends.  ALL HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE NEW FORMULA and we've all decided to switch foods.  Now that I've found out they sold out, no wonder.  It's all about money, NEVER about the animals with some of these companies.

I have heard a lot of problems and complaints with the new Canidae - many many people are very unhappy.  I've also heard of dogs just flat out not liking it as well.

Interesting you had the protein problem with Cal Natural.  I had problems with Innova and Wellness but California Natural did not cause the protein problems for my dogs.  Healthwise by Natura is lower yet in protein than Cal Natural and might work for you.  I like Natura as a company.  My sister has Cavaliers and has used Cal Natural successfully as well and I have friend with a shih tzu on it,.

I know of one former Canidae user who switched to Nature's Variety and is happy.

I recently switched my 35 pound Australian Shepherd to Blue Buffalo. She loves it. Her coat is shinier. It rated a 6 star rating out of 6 in a comparison of all dog foods. My previous dog food was only a 3.
