Does anybody else think that Bakkies Botha should have been cited for attacking the head of Stirling Mortlock. I have watched the replay a number of times and I can only conclude that Bakkies targeted Stirling's head with a cheap shot. Phil Kearns said at time of the 1st replay "now there's a surprise".

I reckon he should have been cited. He wasn't just joining the ruck he was going for Mortlock and connected. End result Mortlock is out for at least 2 weeks and "Cheap Shot" Botha (he has history) gets to run on next game.

  1. Now now, dont get upset...

SA are the World Cup Champions for the next 4 years so I suppose it would make sense for all the All Blacks and Wallaby supporters to watch " closely " for any reasons to look for something outta line.

Rugby's a tough, physical game. If you cant take a hit, you shouldnt be playing.

Its not like Bakkies Botha is the only player in the world who likes getting physical. But, of course, because he's South African, he, and everyone else in the team, will be singled out after every game for " dirty play ".

    Regards

A proud South African Rugby supporter

  2. Yes I think he should be cited but were talking about the wallabies here there tough and ruthless more ruthless than the all blacks and the boks joined together. and in all honesty I think Aussie is going to win the tri Nations and the bledisloe cup

  3. For which game??? He is a serial offender & an antagonist....(he starts stuff) Look at the AB's game he brought up an elbow to the head of Nonu when he knocked on in the 22, constantly niggles off the ball....in fact you could put Butch James & Burger in there as well....Butch only uses his arms to pass the ball not to tackle & Burger has been sin-binned more than any other # 7 this year......They may hold the World Cup for 4 years but I don't think they are a World Champion team discipline wise.......Maybe should have the World Cup every year to see who top team is.....In my opinion anyway

  4. Yeah gday knights I totally agree with you he is the worst cheapest dirty lock that entered the arena of world of rugby he is as dirty as they could come mate guys like that make there name Springboks even worsted than eva as in bad name, man needs 2 be cut down 2 size,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

  5. Without a doubt! a cheap and illegal shot that should be vehemenently discouraged. I am surprized he hasn't been.

  6. Punishment where punishment is due. No exceptions, that goes for the punishment that follows after the hearing-Sanzar are supposed to enforce this.

Brad Thorn gets to run on for the AB's after a 1 week ban from his spear tackle against SA's John Smit. John Smit however, is out for the rest of the Tri-Nations.. Pathetic punishment rules.

  7. Yep for sure otherwise young rugby players growing up will think its ok to take cheap shots at good players heads

They did it to Dan Carter and i bet they will do it to Richie Mccaw when he comes back

  8. Of course Botha should be cited. He dropped his arm and cleaned up Mortlock with his shoulder. Unfortunately, this is what we have to expect from the Boks. Remember Brisbane a few years ago.

How do we look at protecting players. Thorn gets one matchb for a heavy tackle and the Bok hooker gets one week for eye gouging. Biting and gouging should be lifetime bans. But if this was done we wouldn't have any forwards left for the Boks to choose from.

  9. Yes.  but SA players are not dirty.  Just ask any SA fan.  They're still crying at the Brad Thorn tackle.

  10. definitely

  11. I am not sure but when Botha hit Mortlock I was sure that he was on the bottom of a ruck after being tackled and then the blighter bakkies Min's after the ball had gone dived on top of the helpless and unable to protect himself Sterlo did not see Bakkies coming which made it worse the full weight of a twenty stone SA bonehead knock a few more of old Sterlo`s brain sell into the Subiaco night of course that Bonehead should be sighted and the they had their coach complain about the refereeing, PLEASE
