A friend of mine had cataract surgery and a couple of weeks later (after much pain), the ophthalmologist found a piece of matter under the top eyelid--which had scratched the cornea. The ophthalmologist called it "cretious material"--don't know how close to the spelling I am, and said it was caused by "tears turning to stone". I've never heard of this before. Anybody got any ideas?
