Anybody ever put a new faceplate on their palm treo??

hi...the faceplate on my treo 650 has a crack-i bought it used, so idk how it got there---i'd like to put it up for sale, but wanted to replace the front faceplate so it looks all purdy & stuff........any suggestions as to how easy this is to do or whether it'd be a better idea to just sell it 'as-is' & let the buyer fix it to their own liking??

I just replaced the entire housing of my Treo 650 this weekend because the s***w in the corner where the antenna resides was no longer holding the case together properly. It turned out that both the front and back housing pieces had snapped plastic parts.

It's not too difficult, but you will need two types of screwdrivers--a very tiny Phillips head and a Torx 5. The thing you have to watch out for is putting the side button and volume rocker switch back on properly. I took my phone apart last year to replace an antenna, didn't get those side buttons positioned correctly before I put it back together, and wound up with an unresponsive volume up button.

To replace my broken housing this time around, I bought a pre-owned housing set with battery cover from eBay for around $14 shipped and followed the instructions on the site below to swap out the guts of my phone.

Take a look at the tutorial on that page and decide if you want to bother with it. A brand new housing without cosmetic blemishes could cost you more than the phone is worth on ebay ($25+, $40-$50 being typical), especially if you also have to buy the tools I mentioned. If the crack in your 650 isn't that bad, I'd just sell it as is and provide a link to the replacement instructions.
