Question:

Anybody getting e-mails about a p/t job to collect US payments for a UK company - you keep 10% of payments?

Several UK companies have contacted me about collecting US payments for them (money orders and cashiers checks) b/c it is hard for them to cash these in the UK. I would cash them here and send them the money after taking 10% out for my pay. If they were personal checks, I would be dubious. But money orders and cashier checks -- these are supposed to be sure money. What do Yahooers think?

  1. SCAM!!!! DON'T DO IT, SERIOUSLY! MAJOR SCAM!

  2. Well...my friend...let me introduce you to a new concept...fake money orders and fake cashiers checks.

So, should you think it's okey to cash these "money orders and cashiers checks", and should you take your 10% off the top...your bank will some day soon slap you with a bill for the full amount of the money orders and cashiers checks...because they are fake and will not clear.

In the USA, when this happens to you, the only to avoid felony criminal charges from being filed against you by the bank is to register as a fraud victim with the FBI.

  3. it is a scam, dont fall for it, especially if they ask for courier or some other charges for it in advance

  4. It is a scam. BEWARE!

  5. In the local newspaper where I live a lady did this and was busted because the moneyorders and cashiers checks turned out to be a fraud and she is now in jail awaiting a trial plus she has to pay back the money that she collected for the bogus checks. I would be very very carful about this.
