Question:

Anybody got ideas for Baby Shower Prizes?

I'm open to any suggestion but what I'm really looking for is prizes that are cheaper, but that everyone will like. I also need to be able to get them from a store (not on-line).

Also, if anyone has any ideas for an awesome gift for the mother-to-be that would be great. I'm trying to think of something that would be special to mother and baby or just mother, instead of something that's more toward the baby. I also need this to be on the cheaper side, and I have to be able to get it in stores (not on-line). P.S. the baby shower is a surprise from a youth group to their youth pastor's wife. If that helps at all!

All ideas are welcome!

THANKS in advance!

  1. I think an awesome mother to be gift is: a massage!! she deserves it. pamper the mother :)

  2. Here are several examples of baby shower prizes you can use for your party.

Candles – These are great gifts for sentimental guests. Candles are eye-pleasing and inexpensive. The small, scented types are great. Dress them up with ribbons and lace.

Candy bottle - You can get the usual candy tins, but if you want something more creative, here’s an idea: take a baby bottle, and fill it up with any candy of your choice. Any party guest would love to get these prizes!

Cookies – Cookies are practical prizes for numerous reasons. One: they’re cheap; second, you can either buy them or make them yourself; and last, they can suit any guest, whether male or female. If you prefer homemade ones, get some in the shape of baby rattles, ducks or baby bottles. Wrap them up in nice loot bags, and you’re all set.

Personalized T-shirts - These items are surely useful to any guests! Not only are they great as baby shower prizes, but also can be considered party favors! Just make sure you get some in free-sizes, so they’ll fit whoever receives them.

  3. we just went to yankee candle and got votives and wrapped them in blue toile. (or pink)   then you could tie on a little bible verse with a ribbon.

  4. rather than playing a bunch of games at the shower I threw I bought cloth diapers, stencil and fabric markers and had everyone design a burp cloth it was all family so we personalized them.. I gave my sister the option of using them as burp cloths or I would sew them together as a wall hanging.. Our guests had a great time doing them and the mommy loved them.  We did have a few games and the prizes I got were lotions, candles, gift card and a few things I picked up at the $$ store.

  5. prizes

small potted plants.  You can get them at a home depot or a garden store for little money.

baked goods in little bastets/mugs/bowls/etc.....make the cookies or brownies.  and you can buy the bowls (or whatever) at the dollar store.  You can fill it up with some pieces of chocolate or candy.

CD's.....you can buy blank Cd's and then burn a mix to it....go for baby/parenthood themed music (beautiful boy by John Lennon; stay up late by talking heads, etc)

Gift.....books....i LOVE the quiet time my daughter and I spend snuggled together reading books.  I've been reading to her since she came home from the hospital.  Some good books are Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown.  On the Day that you were born by debra Fraiser

  6. I wouldn't do prizes since it is a youth group giving the shower and their is a budget invovled.  If you want to do them consider the ages and gender of your guests.  Try to find things that anyone would like such as a candle, picture frame, lotion set, etc.  For the mom to be a scrapbook would be nice.  You could get her the cover and a few things to get her started.  Or you could even have the kids help you make a starting page to put in the book.  A gift certificate to a spa would be nice for her as well to get a facial or pedicure.
