  1. Use less papers. Recycle used papers too. Thanks for your effort in trying to make people believe that global warming is real. Im trying to do that too. We need more people like you. good luck(:

  2. I suppose the number 1 way would be to buy only paper products that are made from 100% recycled fibers. Also, try making a donation to an organization that buys rainforest land for preservation.

  3. Mark has an extremely valid point about managing the forests.

These are forests which are already being developed.

The days are pretty much long gone when men just went into forests and cut everything down and moved on to the next area.

In fact Brazil now has adopted some extremely important laws dealing with conservation of the rain forests!

Nearly everywhere that logging takes place, the deforested area is reforested. This makes practical economic sense, since the logging roads which required much money and effort to give access in the first place are not only able to be used for reforestation, but will be available for future logging operations!

What you do not hear on the news today is the fact that re-forestation is actually now occurring at a greater rate than deforestation!

This information I got from a book titled, (The Skeptical Environmentalist), and a BBC radio documentary several years ago.

The fact however is that CO2 is not a (Greenhouse gas), and never could be!

Mankind has much to answer for, but (Global Warming) is not one of them!

Please do not be one of the many who continue following someone, who is following someone, who is lost!

Learn some basic science, so that you can make informed decisions, rather than following those that have no clue in the first place!

You may actually start to appreciate, not only what you have now, but a future which could be very bright!

  4. Sell your house and buy several acres of undeveloped land.  Do nothing with it, but pay the property taxes on it.  Let us know how that works out for ya....

  5. One very important way would be to replant 2 trees for every one cut down. Since trees are renewable, this would take care of that and insure plenty of trees for the future.

Also, one must consider that planting pines in place of hardwoods is defeating the purpose.

Also trees such as Redwood and Sequoia take much longer to produce, so there must be some restrictions placed on how many can be cut because it takes so long for them to grow.

I'm not against cutting timber, I just want to see it replanted with the same type tree.

The only hope for global warming is that those people who do not/refuse to believe it will take the blinders off before its too late.

  6. Easy, buy no paper products, no wooden furniture and get everyone else to do the same.  Build houses out of renewable resources.  Wait, forests are renewable resources.  We can replant the acreage that is harvested for use this way we keep recycling the carbon capture system.  It's called being a good forester.

  7. I think you worry enough for both of us.

  8. Give money to the Nature Conservancy or your local land trust. They will buy the land and sit on it and or responsibly manage it.  This saves the forested and other wild areas from being developed.

Yes, government programs and parks can help but ultimately they are more vulnerable to corporate interests depending on who is in power at the time. The Sierra Club is fighting like h**l to keep the Bush Administration from allowing logging  the Sequoias.

Personally when it comes to our paper needs I think we need to switch to using hemp. It grows rapidly and needs no pesticides. It is much stronger than cotton and can be used for making not only rope but particle board (10X's the strength of plywood), clothing, food, Bio fuel 30-35% oil, as well as many other uses.

Commercial hemp is not the same as marijuana grown for recreational and medical drug purposes. And just so you know I don't believe in smoking it. My advocacy of the product is that it is a tremendously useful plant that was purposefully targeted by certain tree and news interests.

  9. Cut down one tree, and use it to threaten to beat the brains out of any of the unfaithful non gullible people who refuse to jump on the great bandwagon of unproven Global Panic...er, I mean Global Warming.  While you are at it, send all your money to Al Gore.  You can send it to me, I will see that he gets it.   My address is:

  10. are you serious?

  11. CAN DEFORESTATION BE STOPPED

    Almost impossible

the Indians or local people would cut everything down and burn the forest to replace it with harmful short term farming killing the soil in no time

expanding populations and expanding farming ,that has to keep pace with the expanding populations are very strong forces that encroach upon the rainforest's

clearing them for farming and settlement areas .

that and the giant networks of roads that have exchanged forests for asphalt all over the planet

In Mexico is a famous jungle that the Media has been trying to save for years

the Naturalists ,and the government ,keep watch .laws are made for protection the wild and to forbid logging.

TV put out a series of documentaries

there are campaigns in the News papers

and all of this has not made the slightest difference

Rainforest's always are in third world countries and always in third world countries corruption and the need for money s highest

the jungle gets smaller by the day

more and more farmers move in .and burn the trees

    it is an impossible situation

as long as there is poverty and an increasing birth rate in these regions the destruction will continue

they are too easily tempted to sell of exotic animals to the unscrupulous people who buy them.for the market that exists in the USA.

we must look for ways to improve economic situations on the edges of Nature .

the only way to preserve the forest is to develop eco tourism under strict control that has limited access ,and use the local people in the concept as guides ,hotel staff and get them to start home industries of artifacts .

eco tourism is the only concept that profits by a healthy back ground with out harming it

But it still is very difficult

Much the destruction is coming from the authorities

  12. we must make a high fines to whom cut tress

  13. Having Lived in a logging community you need to specify what forest?  Where I live the forest that are not logged are dying off and creating CO2.  I know that education teaches the loggers are evil but that is just not true.  The industry is at 50 % of what it used to be, and  timber management is being poorly administered. Its nice to be an idealist however the reality is that a healthy sustainable forest needs to have the trees harvested every 7-10 years.  I am talking the upper midwest, (can't speak for other parts of the country). The forest is a renewable resource, we need not conserve, we need to utilize correctly.  Liberal or conservative view points are of no value when it comes to land managment.
