  1. Are you looking to make a video? If so, make sure you know the basics of how to frame shots and put them together. If you don't know, check out www.metacafe.com, and go to the "Studio" tab. Click "Production School," and follow the advice there.

Second, you need an idea. This is what I think you want. The best thing to do is to look at your own interests. What are your hobbies? What do you like to do? If you can't think of something, then ask yourself this:  what do I spend most of my time doing? How do I use my free time? What did I do the last couple of days?

The video could be about ANYTHING; if it's done well, it'll be interesting. I've seen videos about making pancakes that kept my interest for 10 minutes, and yet some videos about supposedly exciting topics that were incredibly boring.

The most important thing (other than good production value) is to BE FUN! You don't have to dance on the video, but look passionate and interested in what it is you are doing, even if it's making pancakes! Don't forget to match your facial expressions to what you are doing; don't let your face betray your video mood.

Next, know what you're doing and saying, and do it and say it. Don't ramble on, eliminate "uhh" and "umm," and don't include extraneous footage or audio that doesn't enhance the overall video. The rule of thumb is this:  keep it as short as possible while maintaining the overall message. Extra "junk" thrown in to increase the length will just pad your video with boring and confusing material.

If you still can't think of any ideas, here are some:

    1)  Top 10 lists

    2)  Instructional videos / How-to

    3)  Top 10 (worsts)

    4)  Shorts (these are small "movies," from drama to action to comedy, that don't usually exceed 15 minutes)

    5)  Historical (about your city, town, house, etc)

    6)  Neighborhood (show what it's like to live where you live)

    7)  Foreign language (teach them what you know)

    8)  Special effects (do some special effects, and ask them how you did it, provoking viewer response)

    Hope this helps!
