I have chronic insomia. I don't want to take prescription sleep meds. Anybody know of any herbs from the healthfood store that really works? I've heard about melatonin. I'm desperate.

  1. Skullcap, valerian, lemon balm.

  2. Melatonin is inexpensive, safe, over the counter and effective.

  3. Valerian tincture in a cup of Chamomile tea.

  4. Natural remedies include warm milk, melatonin, valerian, 5-HTP and others that you can find in a web search for "natural sleep remedies".

  5. Western skullcap tea is the best. It may take several teabags though.

  6. " Arachidonic Acid From Peanut Butter. "

  7. Valerian is great, it doesnt smell good but it works great.  I have to warn you, it doesnt make you sleepy but when your sleeping your sleep is deeper and you dont feel groggy when you wake  up.

  8. Cannabis...

  9. I have heard several people say that this product has helped them sleep at night.  It is not mine and I don't sell it but I came across this site while doing some research and it might help you.

  10. valerian and hops is good.  Sometimes the best cure I've found is to have like 2 or 3 beers before bed.

  11. I make a tasty and guaranteed sleep tea aid for my children and I and these are the ingredients.

    1 part Passionflower

    1 part Chamomile

    1 part Hops flowers

    1 part Valerian root

    1 part Catnip

and to taste (generally about 1/4 part):

    Lemongrass

    Peppermint

    Orange Peel

...and of course honey in your prepared tea, if you like.  Remember that medicinal teas should be steeped for 10-15 minutes to get the full benefits.
