It's a true story, and it inspired the silent hill movie.

sometime in the 1960's, there was a town in Pennsylvania known as Centralia... There were over 1000 people there... until the fire.

There was a fire at a garbage dump, which caught onto an exposed vein of coal. The fire than traveled back to the mine, where it continues to burn today. Attempts to douse the flames were unsuccessful, as it kept re igniting, so the town was abandoned. The fire has enough fuel to burn for 200 years (or 1'000... I heard one of the two)

Anyways, here's a link to a video about Centralia:

Has anybody heard of this place?
