  1. Hepatic means liver and adenoma means a tumor.  Tell her to go on WebMD...  it will help with some questions

  2. Hepatic adenoma; a rare, benign tumour of the liver. Often seen in women of child bearing age who use oral contraceptives.

  3. A tumour can either be benign, that is unharmful, non-cancerous; or it can be malignant, deadly and cancerous.

Hepatic stands for liver. Adenoma is an uncommon benign tumour of the liver. By now I hope she must have had an MRI, and if not, she's about to have it.

This hepatic adenoma is best removed surgically. Because, even though its labelled all benign, it may cause bleeding problems for the patient, and worse, it may have some malignant, or potentially malignant, points in its structure.

Best of luck for you and your friend.

  4. She has a noncancerous tumor in her liver

  5. If blood tests are inconclusive they may consider a liver biopsy.
