  1. I went a few years ago with some friends while we were in Paris a few years ago. True, it's a touristy place now, but we enjoyed it...I mean, we were tourists...

You can go with one of the tour companies, Paris Vision or Cityrama (see web sites below). Then, we were able to schedule a nocturnal tour of the city via bus, a cruise along the Seine and the late show at the Moulin Rouge for less than 90 Euros.

We had fun...The dancing was wonderful...there were some comedy routines as well. A lady in a glass swimming pool with a snake. It's more than bare b*****s. And after a few minutes, you don't really notice them.

  2. Not it is not worth going to. It is essentially a Las Vegas type show with chorus girls in fancy costumes and a few bare b*****s.

EDIT: While La Lapin Agile, which is invariably mentioned by everyone who has ever read a guidebook, is certainly entertaining its also  an expensive tourist destination these days rather than the haunt of poverty stricken artists and intellectuals as it was when Picasso and company hung out there. In that sense it is hardly "authentic."

  3. No, it is not an authentic caberet any more, it is for tourists who have more than a 100 euros to spend in an evening. The Moulin Rogue was a fantastic place, but you get the flavour of that from browsing the windows in the entrance. The soul of the place has been destroyed now.

A real french caberet can be found close by at Le Lapin Agile. This is an old caberet that carries on in the old tradition. Entry is from 24 Euros. Check at the website below.
