Different organizations might have different titles for the role of software testing engineer. A software test engineer might be called a QA, QC, tester, test engineer etc. You can search for the responsibilities of this role on the internet.

Put quite simply, the usual daily responsibilities of a software test engineer depend on the currently running phase of the software test cycle. She might be required to perform the following tasks:

1) Study the requirements and get clarifications/ answers to her queries on the same

2) Design test cases

3) Plan, establish and maintain the test environment

4) (Record and) Execute test cases i.e. perform scripted testing

5) Perform exploratory testing

6) Create and distribute test results

7) Create and track bug reports

8) Perform re-testing of fixed bugs

9) Produce status reports on the testing done

The above responsibilities can vary according to your organization. You can make changes to the above list depending on the requirements of the project, customer and your organization.
