i havent played in a while and i think this person was cheating

the process for battle phase when one monster attack is (attack->chain->results) correct?

if so, results would be damage right? they did something called staunch defender, i did dark bribe to negate it, then that was it

after this process they tried to do mirror force

since staunch defender must be done when i attack, and so must mirror force, only one can be activated right?

my understanding is the attack must have been the last thing to happen so this is the line i get

i attack->they do staunch defender(trap)->i dark bribe(trap)->battle damage

who is correct here?

  1. After reading mirror force and staunch defender, i would say he would be right. Staunch defender says when you declare an attack meaning you havent attacked yet but you are announcing it. so you say "i attack... he chains staunch defender and you play bribe which staunch is negated. Now you monster attacks and then he can activate Mirror Force. If this had been a scenario with 2 sakuretsu armors, then he couldnt but staunch is when you declare an attack and mirror force is the attack.

    NEW INFO: I asked the question to pojo(a very trusted site with judges and very experienced players) and I have to admit that I was wrong. I'll cite it.

  2. YOU ARE RIGHT!!

    I just answered his question on Yahoo Answers. Have him read you my answer to you, YOU ARE CORRECT. I gave him an elaborate answer on why he was wrong.

    I am a Level 1 Tournament Judge after all, and I NEED to know all the rules.

  3. Your right. seeing as he already used staunch defender and you negated it he's not allowed to reveal another trap based on that same attack. your only allowed one negate trap per attack.

  4. Ok, here's and answer that makes more sense - dark Bribe is a counter trap (speed 3) while mirror force is only speed 2, so it cannot be chained to dark bribe. only cards like solemn judgment can chain to dark bribe. anything after that will lose its timing and the monster will go through and attack normally. he may activate mirror force during the next attack, if you decide to attack with another monster, though.

  5. When a chain like that happens I'm pretty sure it gets reversed. So, in this case Mirror Force would go through but your Dark Bribe will still go off and negate the Staunch Defender. But because the Mirror Force would destroy your monsters the battle damage of the attacked monster or Life Points directly would be stopped. I'm pretty sure thats how it would work.
