I heard it was a fire alarm going off at the docks and when theres a fire at Dublin port the siren goes off aswell but there wasnt anything on the news about a fire. Maybe it was a false alarm or a fire drill.

Or maybe Johnnydairishfella is right,

"The British are coming!!!"

We'll have to barricade ourselves in the Four Courts again.

my girlfriend was kept up last night with that and some of my work colleagues were too

i heard it was something to do with a lot of fire engines on training at the port and they were coming and going all night long from different areas of the city

I am not in Dublin but I heard that lightening stroke a reactor and set the siren of

Cead Mile Failte!

yeah, what was that? in drumcondra - it was really, really loud, and seemed to get louder, as in closer, and then fade out after a while. there are all sorts of theories on the internet about what it is, but if it is a drill, why can't they do it in the evening, say, after dinner and before coronation street?
