  1. i have a good recipe, but you'll have to make a trip to the store for some baking soda, don't fret its cheap (under a dollar)

    INGREDIENTS

    2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

    2 teaspoons baking soda

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    1/4 cup margarine, softened

    1 cup brown sugar

    2 eggs

1 (15.25 ounce) can fruit cocktail, including syrup

    3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

    3/4 cup chopped walnuts

    DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan. Sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Beat in the flour mixture, then stir in the fruit cocktail and syrup, mixing just until combined. Stir in the walnuts and chocolate chips.

Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.

  2. I have never used fruit cocktail for this but....

butter an 8X8 or 9X9 square pan

Drain the fruit cocktail and put in a bowl, add 1/2 cup white syrup, mix and pour into the square pan.

Take a white or yellow cake mix and add 2 tablespoons of butter and mix until crumbly and sprinkle over the fruit and bake @ 350 until golden brown.

  3. A fruit cocktail is just a cup of selected fresh, cut up fruits and juice.  Sometimes an small amount of an orange liqueur is a nice touch, depending on the age of those having it.  It's not something that is baked, not a cake or pie, tart, etc.  Just a nice cup of fresh fruits.  There should  be no need for baking soda or baking powder.  Your actual question asks about fruit cocktail, but the additional details ask about cake, so I'm not sure what it is your really want to know.
