Anybody know about ADD or ADHD?

I have a 4 year old who is very winey about everything and when i tell him to do something he wont and he'll scream and cry and sometimes throw things ( he use to throw things all the time) He will scream anywhere from 30 min to hours........ He is always all over the place. He wont ever listen to a thing I say. He is just so mean.His older half brother has hdhd but he doesnt see his dad therefore I cant get info from him. If he dont get his way he is a terroir. Like in the morning if im not in my bed and he can't lay in it w/ me for a min he will scream and scream to where the ppl next door have actually said stuff to me.

Truthfully it sounds like the problem is deeper than merely ADD or ADHD. It sounds like you need to contact the school system and ask for him to be screened for developmental delays. Depending on the severity of the delay it may be only a minor inconvieniance, or it could require major therapy. My 12 year old has what is called "pervasive developmental delay". He has some of the symptoms of autism, but not enough for a diagnosis. He tends to get easily frustrated, be irritable, take things literally, have some inappripriate behaviors, and have violent rages when he is pushed too far. During his rages he literally has no control over what he is doing.

add can be a cause of this but it may also be just behavior problems like he misses his other parent or is just going through a stage... if you really think that add or adhd is the problem go get him tested... ask around and look up a good office around you, make an appointment and they will take it from there.. most likely he is just going through a stage.. dont worry MANY children go through this it is basically normal these days... hope this helps!

Call his pediatrician and tell him or her your concerns. You may be referred to a therapist or counselor that can work with him.

You obviously are in need of professional help.  I suggest a psychiatrist in addition to  therapist.  Medicine alonbe won't help your son.  There are many factors that attribute to this condition.  God bless hang in there

I have add.... it is an attention disorder. It has nothing to do with being mean, screaming and crying but to do with not being able to pay attention to one thing for a long time. ADHD is a hyperactive disorder also has nothing to do with being mean or acting like you have described your child is. My cousin that I grew up with had it and so did my brother. It has something to do with them not being able to sit still enough to get a task done. It is very irritating to actually have this disease and to see people try to blame their child's behavioral problems on it when all they need are a few good spankings!!!! He acts this way because you let him!!!

ADD and ADHA are learning disabilities NOT behavioral problems!

I have a 9 year old with ADD and a 5 year old with ADHD as well as ODD. It's very hard to deal with sometimes. Most doctors will not diagnose before the age of 5 and even more will not medicate until after 5 years old. Once he starts school it will be easier. I am finally at the stage of meds and what a difference!!! I started taking them to a specialist back in Dec. and just now got meds 2 months ago, IT WILL TAKE AWHILE. Just dont give up. The being hyper and not being able to focus on things sounds like ADHD, but the fits and anger sounds more like ODD. My younger son would throw 5 hour fits, try stabbing or hurting me and others, do things he was told not to just to make you mad, ect. Look that up as well.
