  1. White eggs of that size are normally Pigeons or Doves or Owls.the latter I think you can forget

It could be a Pigeons or a Doves as these eggs are often taken by Magpies and Crows even Squirrels.it could have been taken by any of these and dropped if the culprit, has been disturbed before it has had the chance to eat it.

I would forget about trying to hatch it as you could be in a quandary on how to look after it and you have not the facilities to hatch it, also if it has been dropped then there is not much chance of it hatching.

  2. Long grass..could be a snake egg? If it fell out of the tree it would be smashed wouldnt it?

If you are sure it is a birds egg then it sounds like a pigeon. If the egg is out of the nest then it is out for a reason...just leave it outside, it will make a nice meal for something. I wouldnt try and hatch it, not a good idea!

  3. More than likely the bird pushed it out of the nest because something is wrong or another bird may have tried to steal it from the nest.

If you can't find the nest I would say to just throw it away as there is little you can do to help.

It needs an incubator which is quite expensive to buy and complicated to make.

    Sorry

  4. Ground nesting birds do-not lay white eggs ,theirs are always camouflaged in various colours to blend in with the surrounds.

So as Wacky says they are more likely to be Pigeons or Doves,as snakes eggs are soft.

  5. by the color you mentioned. I would say it's not a bird eggs. Bird eggs is usually hard shell. If it's a soft shell, it's most likely a snake's eggs.

You hold it in your hands and look through the eggs in strong sun lights, If you see "dark object" in the middle, that would be a healthy egg/life form egg. You could keep it warm with correct temperature to hatch the egg. If the egg do not hatch after 3 weeks, it should started to rotten.

  6. Whereabouts on the ground was it, I would go and put it back where you found it, if it was a pheasant or grouse, they lay on the ground and you've just invaded the nest, either way you won't be able to hatch it out without an incubator, they need a very specific and constant temperature depending on the breed of bird.

  7. Hi,

By the sounds of it you have a dove or pigeon egg, there isn't anything you can do as if you do hatch it then3 the chick will have to be hand raised and so won't be able to be released into the wild cause it will be to tame. So really your best bet is to just put the egg in the bin.

  8. An egg seems like such a valuable thing.  They are just amazing and perfect  to look at.

But sadly, this one is doomed.  If the parents wanted it on the ground, you've taken it away from them and can't care for it.  If the egg got on the ground by accident, it may have been there a long time, and isn't alive anymore.

Best thing to do is leave birds alone.  People always think they should be helping, but almost always do more harm than good, because they don't have the tools and knowledge.

What kind of egg?  There are six or seven continents, hundreds of countries, and thousands of bird species on planet earth.  How do we know were you are?
