  1. sopa-on-a-ropa?

Actually, it sounds a loofah. Loofah is a member of the gourd family, it grows on trees but looks like a cucumber. When it's about a foot long, it's harvested from the tree, then peeled and dried. What's left is the internal part, which has an almost-white, semi-rigid, cucumber-shaped series of interwoven fibers. What you do with it is to get it wet while in the tub or shower, then you rub it on your skin, the same way that you'd use a washrag. It rubs off dead skin cells and stimulates the circulation. Loofahs are sold in bath-and-body stores, most natural foods stores, etc. You can also Google "loofah" and get more info about this amazing gourd.

  4. Nope... sorry.  You do know that most fruits and vegetables in Puerto Rico may have names that are different from what you normally  call them, however.
