I drive 140 miles everyday and I was looking into one of those kits, and half the sites say its a scam, the other sites say its not a scam. I'm not sure if they even make them yet I couldnt find a site that had a price. Anybody know anything about them?

  1. It's a scam, save your money.

The whole premise of the hydrogen booster or HHO is that it allows for more complete burning of the fuel.

Even if you took a mid 70’s car your hydrocarbons emissions were only (Federal 1975 emissions standard) 1.5 grams per mile. Even if we assume that 1.5 grams was all unburnt gasoline and if adding a hydrogen oxygen mix could burn it all you wouldn’t save that much fuel. If I remember my math there is about 3785 grams in a gallon which would mean you’d have to drive over 2,500 miles to make up one gallon of gas, and let’s assume you managed 20 mpg before they hydrogen booster, so you would use 125 gallons of fuel. If the hydrogen boost managed to burn that extra fuel your mileage would be 20.16192 mpg not counting the fuel lost making the HHO (but that's another story). And those are 1970’s numbers; cars today are much more efficient at fuel management.

The only way they make better mileage is to lean out the fuel air mix, but doing so will increase the temperature of the inside of the cylinder, this will result in burnt valves, pistons, and cylinder head damage. You won’t notice the damage right away it takes time so say in 5,000 miles or so you get the joy of rebuilding a motor, $2,000 to $5,000+ going without a car for a few weeks. In addition to the engine damage caused by lean burn and high combustion temperatures and an excess of oxygen (when you burn lean you burn all the fuel but you don’t use all the oxygen) cause the formation of nitrogen oxide.

    Please save your money

  2. I had a kit installed it works not as good as it should. I think i need a bigger fuel cell.

  3. yes, you split water into H and O and burn that it gives you 70 - 80 % more HP and mileage

  4. Setting aside the whole "could this thing possible work" angle, you should also pay attention to the method of selling that is taking place.

If these systems were cost effective, wouldn't your local auto mechanic be able to install one for you?   Wouldn't your new car come equipped with such a system already?   Why are all the website that advertise this stuff so ... cheesy, with such low production value?   And how can they possibly offer a 50% or 75% commission for their sales network?  Wouldn't that encourage people to lie about their experience of the product?

I don't care if they are selling a cure for cancer or a new blender, these sales strategies are really suspicious to me and I wouldn't go for it.

Before my computer crashed, I had ONE legitimate article bookmarked from Wired magazine about a trucking company that modified their trucks for a hydrogen / HHO boost - but those modifications were quite expensive ($4000 each), and only saved gas when the trucks were idling.  It made sense because the trucks idle a LOT.

    Hope this helps.  Good luck.

  5. do you believe in perpetual motion? if so go get the kit.  If you believe that energy can not be created or destroyed, then don't buy the kit.

Here how the system works.  Your engine converts fuel to mecahnical energy and work is performed, moving the car.  The engine also makes energy so your AC works, the lights work and you can take some of that energy to run electricity through your electrodes. that electricity makes H2 and O2..  TheO2 has no useable energy, but the H2 does.  You can then use the H2 as fuel to the engine where the whole process starts again.

The laws of thermo say that everytime you convert from 1 energy to another you lose energy, not only to friction, buy to entropy.  Look at all the changes in energy.  Gasoline (chemical energy) to heat energy in the engine, heat to mechanical, mechanical to electrical, then to chemical, and then back into the loop.  This cycle has been analyzed and guess what, only 7% of thats gasolines energy comes back. not so good huh?

The people selling it have to overcome this law so here are the selling points.  The alternator on the car just wastes energy anyway, they are rated to 75 amps and you only use 30, so it wastes the rest.  So if you have 1000 watt stereo at 1/4 volume, does it really waste that power? nah, nice try.

H2 is a hotter burning fuel,. So your engine doesn't know that and if it did, the amount of added H2 is so small.

H2 is a powerful catalyzer making the gasoline completely burn.  Well, the amount of gasoline in your exhaust is measured in parts per million.  when yo get your engine test for pollution they measure it.  50 parts per million is a limit.  So, if you couldburn that, youd get 50 more miles for every 1,000,000 miles you drove (actually is better because you started with 1 gas and 12 air, so its 600 more miles per million) meanwhile you added more gasoline to make the H2 and you end up with a loss.

  6. The alternator on your vehicle draws power from the engine to create electricity. This is common knowledge. A vehicle with power windows can be the example, take it to an auto shop that has an RPM gauge, and have them connect the gauge to the motor. Now start it up, and watch the gauge. Hit the window button, and the RPMs will drop slightly.

It takes a lot of power to separate the hydrogen and oxygen from water. More energy than can be obtained from the hydrogen and oxygen. This is common knowledge. The use of baking soda causes the electricity to flow faster causing more power to be drawn from your alternator which takes power from your engine.

What this system actually does is cause there to be less room in the engine for fuel to enter, and with less fuel comes less power. The same results could be obtained by cutting back the air-fuel ratio of the engine which will also lower the power output. Those who are interested in getting more power out of an engine know how to reprogram the computer to get more power out of the engine. They lose fuel efficiency when doing so. They can also do the reverse...reprogram the computer to get less power out of the engine increasing efficiency. The end result is the same, but you need not dump water into your car all the time.

  7. im no scientist but i think its impossible seeing how gas is made from carbon(dead things) and water is water.they do have cars that run on water though

  8. i'm not scientist, but i think may be you're right and may be you're wrong. where do you know: "baking soda and the electrodes are connected to your altenator the hydrogen is somehow then released into your intake which gives you more horsepower."? If you read it on the internet or some books that the author is famous, you can believe it, if not, don't trust it.

Maybe it will help for u.

  9. I'm a science teacher and this is a scam.

It's amazing how many of theses scams have come into existence, especially since fuel prices have been rising.  Some of the funnier scams I've heard of include of vortexes (fans), magnets, electrolysis (using hydrogen and/or oxygen by splitting water), etc.  Many of the recent scams are trying to piggy-tail off of the concept of hydrogen fuel-cells, where hydrogen and oxygen are combined to produce water AND electricity...basically it's a fancy battery.

The scam you are looking at is the basic electrolysis reaction.  You use DC (direct current) electricity (such as a battery) and you run the electricity into water water.  The electricity splits the water into hydrogen and oxygen molecules.  The addition of the baking soda (or any other salt) is being used as an electrolyte, which allows the electricity to pass more freely through the water (pure water is actually a very poor conductor of electricity).

Here are some problems with this scam.  I may be incorrect about the alternator, but I believe it's AC (alternating current), unless you run it through an invertor to make it DC.  This process works best with DC, not AC.

Also, the amount of energy needed to split the water molecules into its component parts is greater than the energy you get when they react to produce water or some other chemical compounds.

Next is the use of the hydrogen into your intake.  The hydrogen, trying to react with the fuel would partially inhibit the combustion reaction for a couple of reasons.  The hydrogen and fuel really don't react well.  What is more efficient is the oxygen and fuel react better.  Since the hydrogen is also being introduced into the intake and some may be reacting with the oxygen in the intake, some of the oxygen is not reacting with the fuel...resulting in uncombusted fuel.  Plus, you may have more water forming inside of the engine, which isn't a good combination.

The other problem is how much hydrogen and oxygen are produced during this process.  From the amount of electricity that an alternator generates, it splits the water fairly slowly.  You would probably produce more air by exhaling on the intake than using the electrolysis reaction.  I'm guessing most of the water that disappears is from evaporation.

My wife drives about 120 miles every day to work.  I'd recommend doing what we did.  We purchased a Civic and tend to drive a little more slowly.  Or you can do what I'm doing, waiting for the new Venture cars (http://www.flytheroad.com/) to come into production.  :-)

Sorry to dampen your hopes, but save your money.  I'm reminded of an old statement, "a fool and his money are soon parted".  I hope this helps you and others from parting with their money.
