  1. Argentinia is safer than the US. Usual large city and tourist areas precautions. Food and water is safe.

Be extra careful in RIo. Shots are mandatory if going to Amazon. Keep a big supply of bug spray and sun screen

  2. just get your shots before you go

  3. Yes, they are!!!

You should take the same care that you do in NYC or LAX.

But remembering to be extra-careful, as you are a foreigner and do not know the people or the places.

    Caution, is key!!!

  4. Get yellow fever shot if you gonna be in the jungle.. and don't drink the water (a lady thats brazilian moved to mexico with her husban and went back after a few months and she got sick from the food/water). I dont know about the safety but like anywhere else, watch your bags

  5. Anyone who thinks Argentina is safer than the US is nuts.  I lived there for almost 6 years and had plenty of shootouts in front of my Recoleta apartment (ie across from a jeweler).  People are always getting ripped off, my apartment building had an armed robbery and my office building as well - both in broad daylight.

That said, it was over a 6 year period and I was informed of the events shortly after the crooks got nailed or run off, so I technically never saw anything with my own eyes in 6 years, but it is not as safe as the US where I have spent 30 years (including the Bronx) and don't recall any armed robberies in my life.

  6. I love Brazil when I went there. Obviously you  have to use common sense, it is after all a large place. Depends really on where you go. And Yes, get your shots.

I was not that fond of Argentina and never quite felt at ease in Buenos Airies but I travelled there alone so that probably had something to do with it.

Common sense will save your a%# at home and abroad. You should go, though. Chile is awesome!!!

  7. yes, they are safe.

and also, with chile and Uruguay, they are the most European countries in Latin America. you will feel at home.

don't expect mariachis, and don't ask for tacos or salsa. they don't eat that.

the food is great in both countries, great pizzas, pasta, ice cream and beef in Argentina.

Buenos Aires was voted many times as the best city in Latin America, by conde Nest traveler and travel+leisure, Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

but, of course, like in any other city in the world, not all places are safe to walk around alone or at night.

But, in general, they are safe countries.

enjoy, you'll be surprised of how different this countries are from the "typical" Latin american idea of a country.

    Have a good time!
