10 ANSWERS

  1. no shops open on a sunday

  2. 100% always open in Barcelona, the Ramblers is the coolest place to get bargains..!!!! and just off the Ramblers is Corte Inglis you must go in there it's fab..!!!!!

http://www.elcorteingles.es/ cool for bargains.. think of Debenhams but cheaper lol.. and you will get the idea..!!!!!!

  3. Increasing numbers of shops are adopting a European timetable and staying open through the siesta period, although most small independent stores still stick to the traditional opening times of 10am-2pm and 5-8pm Monday to Saturday. Don’t be surprised to see many shutters down on Saturday afternoons, especially in the summertime. Many shops close for at least two weeks in August. Except for the run up to Christmas, Sunday opening is still limited to shops in tourist zones such as La Rambla and the Maremàgnum. Many newspaper kiosks, bakeries and flower stalls are open Sunday mornings and many convenience stores stay open all day.

  4. Barcelona never sleeps, The rambles is 24/7

  5. I'm from Barcelona. Shops are close on sundays, just maremagnum stills open everyday (also sundays!)

  6. Trading laws in Spain only permit shops to be open for 9 Sundays per year. Some do get fined for opening more Sundays, but only in the summer months, it is still regarded very much as a family day, so please don't expect them to be open, bars and restuarants will be and the odd small shop, but not the big stores in main parts of Barcelona

  7. No even Corte Ingles it's closed , there is only a few weekends per year that are legal to open usually on Christmas time the rest of the year the shops are closed in Barcelona, you can find open Souvenir stores in Ramblas but the rest of the city close on Sunday even Malls or big retailer stores as EL CORTE INGLES

  8. Why do people who do not know give incorrect answers? I did! Sorry! a mistake.

Corte Ingles in Plaza Catalunya is NOT open, for better or for worse,  on Sundays.

I DID shop in CORTE one Sunday last summer. Must have been the exceptional day mentioned.

BUT I have just phoned them and they are NOT open on Sundays

    Sorry Sorry Sorry.

Do what I did not do in my original answer,  phone and ask!

  9. Sunday is a rest day

  10. Small shops in tourist resorts are allowed to open. So are certain other larger shops which are considered tourist attractions

The large shops in town are only allowed to open 9 Sundays per year and they get to choose which Sundays these are, but they normally open the 1st Sunday of the month.

Sorry, but as most things in Spain, it's a definate "depends"
