  1. sparknotes!

  2. There are a few themes that can be interpreted from The Pearl:

Greed-Kino trying to sell the pearl for more money

Good vs. Evil-can be seen several times through the story like when the doctor refuses to treat the baby, but when the doctor learns of the great pearl, he tries to be nice, steal the pearl-evil when the baby is accidentally shot

Love-Kino loves his family and will do anything for them; Juana loves her husband and baby son

Freedom- Kino runs and is tracked; therefore a loss of freedom
