according to wikipedia, he died of a heart attack.  

i'm saddened, as those era of blazers were a special part of the community, and connected, meant more to the city of portland than people think.

I haven't read the cause of death but if I had to guess I'd say a heart attack. The last time I saw Duckworth he was pretty big. He was pretty big his last few years playing which made him more susceptable to injury, but he was even bigger after retirement. It's sad to hear that happened, poor guy was only 44..

Yeah, he bought a pair jet skis from the dealership my brother worked at about a month ago.  He's HUGE now- lots of money, no self-discipline, and no one coaching him or forcing him to make healthy choices any more.

Former NBA centre Kevin Duckworth died Monday night at the age of 44.

Duckworth was in Lincoln City in northwest Oregon for a youth basketball clinic when he collapsed and died, according to a statement released by the Portland Trail Blazers. The cause of death was not immediately known and an autopsy is planned.
