There is a petition email floating around got a lot of hypes -to say no to United Nations' abolishment of Traditional Chinese in 2008, however, a lot people simply took the word but never ask the question, is this ture ?, somehow I suspect people use a false petition to gain political ground. 2008 happens to be the olympic year. How can we verify this ? UN web site has no information at all.

  1. The use of Traditional Chinese is illegal in Communist China, and is fast disappearing in Taiwan and in overseas Chinese communities.

The UN is not "abolishing" Traditional Chinese - they have simply announced that after 2008 they will no longer print official UN materials in Traditional Chinese, but only in Simplified Chinese.
