  1. own "top of the line " decorative concrete curbing co. in florida.we pour mix of crete ,sand ,lime, water and sometimes color additive into a machine that pours a continuous stream of concrete in several widths, styles and patterns.you can add lights or embellishments (have had clients add seashells  and one added golf balls ).in florida a 6 inch mower style ( our most popular style ) is 1.70 a square foot for grey,2.00 for white and up to 2.75 for colored.you can also purchase kits at home imprvmnt stores for patterns or fake stones and some look very good.

  2. It is an open ended question, so I'll throw my two cents in. I saw a fence built of recycled slabs of concrete stacked like very large bricks or blocks. I used the same technique to build a dam and create a pond and waterfall. A heavy rain washed out the dam except for the concrete. A friend bought the property and he said a clan of beaver restored the damage shortly after he moved in.  RScott

  3. low maintainence and most expensive initially.  it is always a foolproof way to go.

  4. We just did our garden with concrete border. We got them in Home Depot for $1.24.per foot. Cheap and easy to install.

  5. yes but please describe what you need. i am a landscape designer

  6. box in the area that you want to put the concrete in and lay the concrete down and make sure that when the concrete is down get a peace of 2x4 and smooth and level it out that is the best advice i can give

  7. Its hard as a rock.

I seldom see any reason to use it.

Its costly and ...   hard to remove if you change your mind later.

  8. We went to Home Depot & bought the do it yourself pathway maker.  It looks like cobblestones when your done.  Very cool effect & easy to do.

  9. Yes, I know a few things, but trying not to write a book. Can you be more specific?

  10. Weak answers.

Of course it's hard as a rock- concrete is rock!

No, he didn't ask about cheap plastic edging!

Formed your own concrete borders- that must look good!

There are companies that will come in and pour a decorative "mow strip" (edging) for you.  One such (in my area) is called Borderlines- they have a website.  C heck it out.

They are able to color it, stamp it, embedd night-lighting in it, etc.  Neat stuff and a quality product (unlike benderboard).

They can mimic bricks, pavers, etc.

  11. We had this done last year. A company specializing in concrete borders came out & did it. They use forms for the shape. There are several color choices, and our cost was about $5. per linear foot, but I'm sure this will vary. I was skeptical about being able to run the riding mower tires right up on it, so that there would be no other trimming needed around it, but it works just fine.

    'Hope that helps!

  13. KInda an open question, but best bang for the buck is recycled plastic product we call Bend-A-Board from Epic Plastics.  Dimensions are about 1/2 inch thick by 4 inch height and come in 20 ft. lengths.  does not work well for straight borders for which they have other similar products partially composed of wood chips and plastic "Trex".  I personally have installed Bend-ABoard in 24 inch radius circles or a bit less.  It is very flexible and durable.  Just don't drive over it constantly with riding mower or it will pop up.

  14. Get a Home Depot Instruction Book...!!

  16. We did boarders around our yard.  Just used a cement mixer and took bender board around the yard, with those cheap stakes that you get from the hardware store like lowes or home depot.  put the bender board where you want it in curves or straight  on both sides of how thick you want it and put stakes about every 2 feet put cement in with a shovel slow to the top of the wood.  let seat for about 20 mins and you can take the wood off easy.  you can let it be like that or you can let the rocks show in your cement.  How you do that you spray it with a hose easy and it will work down to the rocks and let it seat till it dries about a week. If you want the rock to shine you can take acid and rub it on the cement after it has dried about a week.  We have had ours done for about 7 years and it is so nice.  but another thing if you want a mowing strip.  after you take the wood off and it is dried you dig a strip about 4in  out and you pour a strip of cement in that area  make sure the strip is about 2 inches down, then you have a nice mowing strip.  good luck that is what we did.
