HI!

If you have any experience with raising kittens, could you tell me a little bit about how hard/easy it was to look after them?

Did you get 1 or 2 at the same time? what did you buy them and how long did you work for at the time?

also any stories (sad or funny) about YOUR time raising a kitten would be great thanks!!!

  1. hi likewise live in the uk and have 2 cats at the mo and 5 2 week old babies. There are not pure breds neither which I guess will put a lo of peoples back up but they all go to good homes.  i think it is best to have more than one and getting them together if they are roughly the same age is great because they can grow up together. both my cats are free to go outdoors whenever they want and one is an outdoor cat nd just uses me for food while the other one is an indoor cat who go out a lot but definitely appreciates  the indoors. I think cats are pretty smart and as long as you feed and water them don't really need a lot of looking after. i think lots of love and affection is the answer. we recently lost a cat (he went out and never came back it broke my heart) but he was the apple of my eye. he used to sleep in bed with me and snuggle in under my jumper if i was just sitting lol!, I think the more you handle the kittens and shower then with love the better they are as they grow up. i suppose it just depends what you want out of a cat. my brothers cat is well looked after but ina different way. my brother plays with his cat but doesnt really cuddle it and so his cat is not very cuddly but very playful. my cats know that i am there for cuddles while my partner is there for giving into trouble when they are naughty. Like my indoor cat nicked a bit of chicken off my fork while i was having supper the other day and i was just gonna let it slide  after shooing her away whereas my partner was very annoyed, smacked her and sent her outside. its a bit like fun parent and serious parent heehee although my partner plays with them more than me :)

  2. I have 2 kittens both ragdolls... one is 7 months and one is 3 months!  I got them at different times and after about 2 weeks they are best friends... feel free to email me if you have any questions!

  3. I've always had cats. When I was at home most of the time I had one kitten, but if you're gonna be working a lot its best to get a companion so they don't get lonely.

My kitten is a maine coon, she does cool matrix moves jumping up the walls, they are easy to look after but need lots of love, good food and toys.

are they gonna be indoor cats? or outdoor?

  4. My story is this last year about this time I was in my yard and I heard a kitten crying so I went to see what was wrong with it? Here was this poor black cat with both eyes covered over with dried mucus because it had an upper respiratory infection and was unable to see anything. I crouched down and said come here baby! And it came walking slowly over to me. I see lots of cats and kittens around my place and they are "feral" born wild and usually have a fear of all humans but this poor thing new it was in big trouble and must have know somehow I would help? I got out some saline solution and soaked it's eyes until the dried mucus was soft enough for me to slowly attempt to open it's eyes. This kitten was also very malnourished and needed to be feed soon or it was going to die, so I went to the pet store and got a tiny bottle and this special canned formula called " mother's milk replacement" and returned home and started feeding the kitten right away. I'm not sure how much you know about cats and kittens but sometime the mother cat will lead or take an ill kitten on a one way trip and let it die and I think that is what happened to this one? I named this kitten Ray Ray  after Ray Charles because this kittens eyes were such a mess that I figure it might never regain it's sight. I did take Ray to my vet and had him checked over and was given a special eye medication that had to be given to him three times a day. When I came back home I found a second kitten that looked like it might have came from the same litter that was a cream colored tiger kitten. This one was really starved out even more than Ray but it's eyes weren't as messed up like Ray's were. I attempted to feed them both on a feeding schedule and while Ray seemed to be improving the other wasn't and died. I felt that had I found that one the same day that it probably would have made it? But neither it nor me was that lucky. You might say to yourself that at least you saved one and that was better than losing both and you would probably be right? But I still felt bad about it. Ray is about 12 pounds now and is about to be a year old. He is all black with big yellow eyes and we love each other very much and he has brought a lot of happiness to my life. You might think that I saved Ray's life but actually it was the other way around. I was in such a deep depression at the time that I was about to give up and end things. Had it not been for this poor creature on the brink of death it's self coming to me on that day I'm not sure I would be here to type this special story about this? So there you go you got both the sad and happy together.

  5. Some of my best memories of my cats comes from when they were kittens. So full of life and play, and so simple to raise with a few simple tasks.

First, as soon as you bring them in the door put them in their clean litter box and let them know where it is. When they climb out you can play with them a while and then, second, show them the food bowl and give them their first meal at home and a bowl of fresh water.

Then it may be time for them to go back to the litter box or sometimes to take a cat nap.

The cat in the picture was our Siamese-mix boy we adopted from a friend's litter, in 1988, named Oscar Johnson. He was the greatest! He just passed away two years ago.

You will love your time with your kitten and when it is ready to nap it will let you know! And please, keep it as an indoor-only kitty so it will live with you many years.
