Hi, I don't know anyone who lived there, but the Georgian Houses are beautiful, as you look at the houses from bottom to top the windows get smaller at the top to give the illusion of height, also every 5th house had to have a lantern or candle ark built into the doorway it was the law because that was the only way to light the street.


  2. My Mother grew up in Bride St, around the corner. During WW11, there was a man who dealt in the black market (won't say his name in case anyone knows him). He had a limp and would always climb the stairs up to his room late at night, about midnight. They always knew it was him because of his distinctive walk. The police caught him and he was taken away. Soon after, he died. Every night, for a long time after, his footsteps were heard at that hour, climbing the stairs. Everyone in the house made sure they were indoors before Mr X came 'home'. Lots of scary things happened in those tenements.
