  1. I was on fluoxetine for like a month and a half span and personally it did not work for me i was still anxious and depressed.  But not all medicines work for everyone so i tried lexapro and that really worked for me.  Generally the doctor says it takes 2 weeks when it really takes a month or more so don't think its not working if it doesn't work by 2 weeks just give it time i have heard great things about it.

  2. are mitzapine the small yellowish tablets, i found that they made me tired so had to take them an hour before going to bed, as for fluoxetine they made me very emotional

  3. im on 60mg per day- and to be honest ive not felt much different. Ive tried telling my gp but he just upped the dose.

  4. Hello. I was on 40mg of fluoxetine for 5 months due to my extreme social anxiety and depression but it personally did not work for me at all. Fortunately for me, I did not suffer from any side affects but I know that a friend of mine who was on them said that they made her feel sick. I come of them without doctor supervision (even though I was warned that I would suffer from side affects) but nothing happened to me and when I seen my doctor, she seemed fine that I wasn't taking them anymore. I hope if you do continue to take them that they help you and I hope you have a happy and sucessful future.

  5. i have been on fluoxetine on two separate occasions. both times were only short. the first time was a month, not really long enough for it to take effect. second time only a week as i had a bad "episode" while taking them. anti d's work different for everyone. if you dont feel them working in around 2 months, then go back to your doctor and try another one. im afraid its just trial and error until you find one that works. but stick in there, you will find one eventually.

  6. Hello,

I am genuinely sorry to hear that you have been unwell, and it has affected your work and stuff.

I was on fluoxetine too. My brother is a doctor and his advise to me at the time was that it may take up to 6 weeks to act (max) - is different for different people.

My experience with fluoxetine was that it was not very effective for me. (Its differenr for different people).

    What DID work for me:

1). Went to a counsellor, first and foremost. Spent a long time in talking therapy addrressing old, useless, inaccurate ways I saw myself and interpreted past events.

2). Changing my diet and lifestyle - Having a SET ROUTINE every day, going for walk / run in the morning with dog.Going for a drive. Keeping busy busy busy.

Eating healthy food: fsalmon, fresh veg, fruit. Doing stuff I like - spa treatments (massage) yoga pilates

3). BEING KIND TO MYSELF: Think about it. I treated myself so badly. Just cutting out all the negative, critical thought about myself.

4). Taking it half a day at a time.

I hope that this is useful for you, everyones experience with depression / anxiety is different. These were the issues that affected me.

I wish you all the best,

    curious orange

  7. I have just started on Fluoxetine a week ago, so far I am extremely tired all the time and I am also sleeping loads.  I hope it is just a passing side effect and then in a few weeks I will start to notice a big difference.  Here's hoping.

  8. Hi, I've been on prozac 20mg for about 5 weeks now.  Its the first anti-depressant I've been on after finally seeking medical help for my depression.

As Im sure you know anti-depressants work differently for different people, and give them different side effects, if any.  I personally noticed a lift in my mood right from the first week of prozac.  Side effects I experienced were problems sleeping, headaches and dizziness.  My dr told me that if I had any side effects they will be most intense during the first 2 weeks.  She was right, they've now gone totally.

I'm going to see if its possible for my dose to be increased as although its helped I still feel extremley low.

Hope Prozac works for you but if not then theres plenty of other anti-depressants you and your gp can explore. I'd recommend also accessing a talking therapy like counselling or cbt, as you're more likely to get out of depression with a combination of medication and talking therapy.

    Good luck.
