Myself and my friend are traveling to Berlin for two weeks in December. We want to visit Poland from there, but don't know where is a good place to go. Warsaw is a bit too far.

  1. Well, there are many exciting things to go see in Poland, including:

          Warszawa (Warsaw) - the capitol

    Warsaw includes:

      Stare Miasto (Old city)

      Palac Wilanowski (Wilanowski Palace)

      Palac Kultury (Kultury Palace)

      Palac Lazienkowski (Lazienkowski Palace)

Krakow - Large City (former capitol) Located in the southern part of Poland

    Krakow includes:

       Sukiennice (Large Market center)

Kosciol Mariacki (Old Church, built in the Renaissance

    era)

       Wawel (Historical area)

Rynek Starego Miasta (another Old City, like a visitor center, has restaurants/taverns, stores, etc.)

       - south of Krakow, in a smaller city called Zakopanne, which is a mountain city right in the mountains with skiing and fun stuff like that.

Gdansk - located in the North part of Poland, right at the very top.

    Gdansk includes:

        Stare Miasto (another old town)

Morze Balticke (Baltic Coast, which includes alot of things to see there, typical beach things, lighthouses, seashore restaurants, boat ports, etc.)

        Koscioly (churches)

           Osiwiecim

Here is a very popular place to visit,

n**i concentration camps, also known as Aushwitz.

There are many other cities where you can go site-seeing. If you are interested in more information about these places or want to check out even more things to do, check out this website  http://travel.yahoo.com/p-travelguide-69...

  2. I would really recommend Krakow.  It is easy to get to from Germany as it is quite far west.  It was by far my favourite place on my europe trip.  The food was delicious and cheap and the people were amazingly friendly. The city is gorgeous as well.

If you are looking for a place to stay, make sure to check out the Greg and Tom hostel - It is right across from the main train station.  We basically had our own apartment with laundry a kitchen, computer and they even have a playstation and dvds you can borrow. It was inexpensive too!

Krakow it self is beautiful to wander around in, but you can also do day trips from there.  I went to Auschwitz.  Although it was really hard to see, it is worth it and is an unforgettable experience.

I hope you get to Poland, I want to go back sooo badly!

  3. Poznan is a great city with 600,000 inhabitants and is 2 hours on the train from Berlin. It is probably the biggest city in Poland closest to Berlin.

It has a nice old town!
