Anybody regret putting darker colored wood floors?

We are wooding the house and we were thinking of putting handscraped Maple Truffle from Lockwood Natural Floors at Lowe's. However, I've heard that dark wood has a lot of bad aspects. What are some regrets you have of putting darker wood?

Every thing shows up better. Scratches, dust, dirt, scuffs. Its like keeping a black vehicle clean. Dark floors also make the room seem smaller.

I have this exact floor from Lowe's. We love it! It feels so good to walk on, and looks great since our trim is white and walls are lighter colors, so the dark brown helps to contrast that and to "ground" the room. Yes, dust does show more than lighter floors, but we have a dog and Swiffer often so it is not a problem. I don't feel like I clean any more than before. The Maple Truffle (which looks much better than the other similar one they carry... Gunstock???) feels warm and classic and looks much nicer than the light yellow bamboo floors that I keep seeing. I think this will not go "out of style" and will always look nice. Besides, style is based upon your personal preference, not what some design mag says.

I do! Dark wood has been the big trend for the past few years, but like all trends they go out eventually out of style.

I did a dark walnut from Dupont 3 years ago at my old place, and dark shows dust and dirt a lot faster. Also wall color seems like it needs to be a little darker and warmer to balance it all out.

If you want something classic, think about it, oak and maple floors have been used for over 100 years and still look great when they're kept up and maintained.
