Anybody shed advice?

ive been to thailand pattaya and bangkok and desided that it was a bit too hectic to bring my 3 year old son.... but one of my freinds told me vietnam was more laid back and less of a sestpit..! has anybody any opinion? is vietnam a place you can bring your 3 year old son? and is it safer than thailand? and is there things for kids to do there?

We had a super holiday there with children although it was a few years ago I wouldn't imagine it has changed that much.
