You know, the ones you buy at supermarkets to re use instead of getting disposable bags all the time.

Just wondering if they are any good for storing potatoes and similar vegetables?

  1. Nope, but I just use a brown grocery bag.  The reasoning is, I'm supposing the green ones let in a little more light than the brown ones, and you can fold them over a little easier.  Plus, you're not wasting a bag!

  2. sure, as long as potatoes are kept in the dark, they are pretty happy. green bag in the cupboard should work fine!

also, about your best butcher in Townsville question (missed it, now in voting, but I can't message you the answer directly so here it is in your potato question!): BUNDOCK BUTCHERS - on Bundock Rd (follow Eyre St in the city towards The Strand -  turns into Bundock Rd eventually), around the airport side of Castle Hill.

best butchers in the ville! try the special flavoured sausages they make..

  3. The reusable bags are fine for potato storage, just make sure you keep the top slightly open for the potatoes to breathe.

And to keep the potatoes fresher, longer, store them in the refrigerator.

    Happy cooking.
