  1. it gave me cancer

  2. I had a magic jack and it is pretty good. I got rid of it because my husband and I have cell phones that we always use. If you have a laptop that you take outside the home it would be good if you bought a small phone to carry with you. You just hook the magic jack into a USB port on your computer and then hook the phone line into the phone jack on the magic jack device, so you can still use a cordless phone. It will also keep a record of the incoming and outgoing calls on your computer. All-in-all it is a neat, affordable phone service. It doesn't interfer with your internet connection either. You can be online and on the phone at once. I do believe you must have DSL or high speed to use it though. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that they say they have almost any area code you need to choose from and that isn't quite true. I live just outside of Knoxville(which I would consider one of the major cities in TN) but the nearest area code I could get was Nashville, which is long distance from Knoxville. And although I have never contacted customer service, I have heard from serveral other magic jack users that they have very poor customer service, with alot of rude reps. Hope this helps, JL

  3. It looks like it would have to be attached to the computer to work which would kind of limit carrying the phone around

  4. I have a few.

Simple install on Windows XP and Mac.

ON  Vista My physical phone does not ring. I don't know if its the phone or MJ with vista.

    Cheapest fixed yearly plan.

I took it to Mazatlan, Mex. Worked really well, no one knew I was there.

You can install a phone that does not need power.

Only flaw is you can't keep your current number.

  5. yes....its a good deal....if that's what you want....you can call anyone for free in the US and Canada for free....land line or cellphone!! I have one for over 1 year now and love it!

you just put the MagicJack into your USB port and use any old analog phone and make calls....!

the MJ software install when you put the MJ n your USB post....with the software and also a softfone if you wanna use it !

I use it since last year, and so far I love it! but you gotta know what you really want out of this gizmo! I use it strictly for travel and as a 2nd line in my house!

Don't expect too much from MagicJack....its not a phone service per se.....!

I had no problems installing it...matter-of-fact ....the install was faster and much more easier then my other VoIP service!

Land Phones its really easy to use....like a VoIP service (Internet phone)

but you computer got to be on at all times for it to work!!

You gotta download their software....but its very easy and you don't need to do nothing else...! I have it since last year...! so far I love it...I take it on vacation to other countries so I can call back for free with an US area code! Make sure you use another user account and not the admin account...also if you have trouble...check your device manager....don't do your iPot stuff at the same time...!

all you get is the Magic Jack...the rest you learn on your on, or at the MJ forum!

You will be up and running within 5 minutes....you can ask here questions when you get it going!! There are alot of little things you have to know........for it to work just right!!

the most important thing with the MJ...it all depends on your ISP provider....! I use other VoIP on my computer, but the MJ was the easiest to install...
