Anybody want to live in the past?

My time machine has been built. It has been tested several times and is quite safe.

I can only take one other person because of space restrictions (I made the thing out of an old fridge)

I am only interested in the past and whoever chooses the most interesting date and with a good reason can go with me.

My mother always said I should have been born in the 1800s.  I would like to go back to 1950.  I want to become a radio announcer, and I want to invest in Apple Computer before it starts.

I also would like to buy 1 ounce silver dollars for $1.  If I buy $20,000 and I can bring back 20,000 ounces to our time.

Too far in the past, and the living conditions are too crude.

Living somewhere in the last 50 years might not be too bad - particularly if I could take information back and take advantage of it. You know - stock info to buy and to avoid, etc.

I wouldn't want to go much further back than 50 years though.

I wonder what would happen if I tried to help out myself as a young child, though... maybe I could avoid a number of problems...
