Talumpuk Peninsula

Talumpuk Peninsula is a district in Pakpanang County, Nakhon Sri Thammarat Province. This peninsula was created by the transportation of shore sand from all corners of the Gulf of Thailand and the impulsion of a stream from mountain Nakhon Sri Thamarat ranges. Talumpuk Penninsula is a suitable location for trading and the transportation of goods around the world.

Years ago, before the flooding occurred every afternoon. There are ring net Chinese boats and padding boats all over the coast of the peninsula. These boats carry fresh fish, shrimp and other seafood to the Pakpanang Market, which Pakpanang residents enjoyed greatly.

On 25 October 2505, the worst Typhoon in history hit Pakpanang Peninsula. It rained all day and the storm grew worse in its intensity; the sky was dark and overcast. The Pakpanang elders claimed, they had never seen this type of Typhoon. There was so much rain, wind. The tidal action and wind caused a gigantic flood to cover entire peninsula. Some houses began to separate or suddenly collapse. Hundreds of People climbed to the roofs of the few stable houses. Once the terror storm had pass, there were countless dead bodies covering the beach. Most survivors stayed in mangrove forest because it offered protection from terror storm as its tree and root system reduced the destructive power of heavy tides and winds. In just one night, homes and properties were destroyed, countless dead bodies, and a few weeping homeless survivors.

Location

Talumpuk Peninsula, Nakhon Sri Thammarat covered by two districts in Pakpanang County which are Talumpuk Penninsula district and East Pakpanang District. There is the boundary, as follow

North Adjacent to Gulf of Nakhon Sri Thammarat in Tasala District

South Adjacent to Bangpra District

East Adjacent to Gulf of Thailand

West Adjacent to Gulf of Pakpanang and Gulf of Thailand

Area size

Talumpuk Peninsula has approximately 54.01 Square Kilometre (Approximately 18,212.50 ไร่) Talumpuk Peninsula is divide into two districts:

Talumpuk District has 29.41 Square Kilometre (Approximately 33,756.5 ไร่), and East Pakpanang District has 24.87 Square Kilometre (Approximately 15,544 ไร่).

Topography

Talumpuk Peninsula is a typical coastal region. The peninsula shaped like quarter of the moon. The area tilts from west to east until reach the Gulf of Thailand. There are the ocean surrounds three sides. The character of Talumpuk Peninsula is sand parallel with the shore. West coast has mangrove forest and aquatic animals that suitable for fishry occupation and the tourism.

1.) Talumpuk District composed of 4 villages:

• Village 1 Banplaythay

• Village 2 Bantalumpuk

• Village 3 Bantalumpuk

• Village 4 Bantalumpuk

2.) East Pakpanang District composed of 7 villages:

• Village 1 Banthaytala

• Village 2 Banbangjanak

• Village 3 BannenSomrong

• Village 4 Banbangkongkong

• Village 5 Banwang

• Village 6 Bannumnak

• Village 7 Bankahchai

Weather

The weather in Talumpuk Peninsula has heavy rain in October-January

because the influence of northeast monsoon. Febuary-May weather is arid because the influence of southeast monsoon. June-October is moderate rain because the influence of southwest monsoon.

Population

1.) Talumpuk Peninsula District has population of 2,240. There are 1,200

male and 1,040 female. There is the population density of 76.19.

2.) East Pakpanang District has population of 8,067. There are 4,075 male

and 3,992 female. There is the population density of 324.

Income

The average income of Talumpuk Peninsula District is approximately 12,241 per person per year, which ranked 14 in Pakpanang District.

The average income of Eastpakpanang District is approximately 8,749 per person per year, which is the lowest rank in Pakpanang District.

Employment

Most Pakpapang residents are fishermen, general service workers, merchants, or farmers.

Natural Resources

Most natural resources are reserved forests, mangrove forests, and other animals. Talumpuk Peninsula has loads of ark shells, crabs, shrimps, and other seafood.

Attraction

Talumpuk is the longest peninsula in Thailand. There are many beautiful

beaches and small islands that full of Nakhon Sri Thammarat History. There are a small harbors which are built for business and tourism. There are many mangrove forests and many animals.

Transportations

It takes approximately 17 kilometers from Nakhon Sri Thammarat to Talumpuk Peninsula by public road number 4013.

Talumpuk Peninsula

Talumpuk Peninsula tilts from west to east until reach the Gulf of Thailand. There are huge coastal and beach areas when the water decreases. Talumpuk is a great place for tourism because there is countless fresh seafood around the beach area.

Talumpuk Peninsula was hit by the worst hurricane on 25 October 2505. It was a tropical storm called Hariod, which moved 90 kilometers per hour, the water level is 5 meters. There were 8 southern provinces that affected by the storm includes: Nakhon Sri Thammarat, Chumporn, Ranong, Krabi, Pangsha, Trang, Tattalung, and Naratiwat.

The government resuscitates the nature by afforestation and prohibits hunting certain animals in the forest.

Pakpanang has a famous peninsula called Talumpuk. Talumpuk is a type of fishes that living in the freshwater. Years ago, there are many Talumpuk fishes and the shape of peninsula looks “Talumpuk” which is a type of tools made from wood that people also called “Talumpuk”
