  1. Well working on any cruise ship is hard work. You can never take a day off if your dont feel good, or if your sea sick. The up-most professionalism is expected at all times.

  2. I worked for one contract for Harding Bros. I was working in the gift shop onboard the Carousel (no longer sailing). The pay was low (150 pounds a week) but for the hours we worked I guess it was reasonable. Working in the gift shop you are only able to work when the ship sails. Are you going to be working in the shop or salon? You are classified as a concession (or petty officer) onboard the cruise ship. Harding Bros is OK - just read your contract well before hand so you know what you are getting into (how long onboard etc). A rep from Harding Bros will only come onboard approx. once a season, so mostly you just have to listen to the manager and follow the ship rules. I really had a great time and had no problems with Harding Bros at all. If you meet target sales you get bonus pay. It is also a great stepping stone if you want to move into other areas onboard. After my contract with Harding Bros I went on to work as a Purser.

Being a concession also gives you a lot more time to see the sights in port as the shop is closed in port. If you ever work in a different capacity onboard you won't have the time. Let me know if you need to know anything else!
