  1. In the state of CA you have to have a minimum of 12 ECE units. The sad thing is experience is nice, but doesn't make you qualified to be a preschool teacher, it's all about the units.

  2. I don't work in daycare but my son's g/f does.  She didn't have any training before she was hired, but she is now in school to be an early childhood teacher.  I have alot of respect for people who work with children since I certainly don't that the patients.

  3. I am a preschool teacher at a child care center. The only requirements in the state of  Michigan, for a child care preschool are 6 credits in early childhood.  I have a bachelors, working on my master's, but I am overqualified... but it is awesome experience for my future goals, and the kids are a lot of fun!

So it depends on the state.  But if you are just an aide, and not the teacher, then you might not need any just to work in a classroom along side the teacher.  If you would like more money and more responsibility, then classes might be necessary. Also if someone else applies for the job and has some college credits in early childhood, and you don't, they will hire them over you.  Good luck, hope this helped.

  4. You should have training in ECE or preschool education, at least .All our preschool treachers are BEEd graduates and took specialization in Preschool education.

  5. I can't personally attest to this website, but here's what I could find about requirements.  Please note that the requirements listed for the teacher position, not a teacher assistant.  (Those requirements seem a bit high and I would imagine there are ways around it.)

I would dress appropriately and speak to a daycare director in your area.  Then, if say CPR was required or a medical form was needed or even if she had an opening, you have a source of contact.

**************************************... I think you need reexamine our answers.  In all or almost al states requirel daycare/preschools to provide proof at least some college education.  Some states require college but give you six months to a year to complete it at night.  That's what the link above says, too.  Experience is NOT the only requirement.  It's not a lot of courses you need to take, but there will be some.  Sorry to one of those giving you news you didn't want to hear.

  6. hi. i have tried before daycare work, but to me, the main thing you need is mainly the love towards the kids.. child are cute to me, thus i enjoy looking after them.. as long as you have the passion for kids, no worries about it.. and of coures, you must not be afraid of serving them as well (because they might be naughty at some times too..)

so anyway, all the best too.. :)

    smile always..

    will*

  7. You need trust, love and tolerance. Prove you're mature, fun and understanding.

  8. I work in a children's nursery in NM. All I really needed was my first aid and children's CPR certification and some experience. Good Luck
