I'm going on the Carnival Holiday cruise ship in a few weeks, and I wanted to know what you guys out there thought of the ship? I know its an older boat, and that the pool area is smaller. I am of age to drink alcohol, but I dont want to spend a fortune on the ship (because I have before!!). Did anyone sneak on alcohol in their luggage? Successful? Help me out with other tips about this ship! THANKS!!

  1. Hey Audrina, I'm a big fan of CCL.  I've been on it 3 times already but only for 3-day cruise.  And u know what?  I get the feeling of wanting more everytime I get off.  That's how much fun it is for me and my buddies.  Anyway, the best way to save money on booze is to sneak a bottle of wine in it cuz they let you do that anyway.  I think they allow one bottle of wine or champagne.  Thankfully I only drink wine now so that was cool. But if you want to sneak in like vodka then put it in a water bottle and hold on to it in your hands so they think it's really water.  My friend did that and they didn't check.  Only thing is to make sure you get thru the airport like that.  I guess they wouldn't care about alcohol at the airport anyway.  But check it out just in case.  Other then that I don't think you can sneak beers in there unless you only sneak in a bottle only, right?   So good luck and have fun big time!  I love CCL and now I'm trying to go on a 7 day cruise but I have to find friends who can afford it and time as well.  But I'll find one someday :)  By the way, I think you can sneak in a bottle per person.  So each and everyone of your friends and sneak one in also.  You'll have plenty that way.  Where are you departing from and are u going alone or with friends?  And how many day cruise?

  2. In November of 2003 I cruised on the Carnival Holiday ship and let me tell you... it was great!  It was my first cruise and I had a wonderful time!  The people on the ship were very kind and helpful and it was just a really great experience.  I'd do it again!

  3. i have been carnival jubilee  that is the same level has the holiday   and it has no atrium like the fantasy level ships and it only have 8 elevators on board  and the main theater in front is a two story one instead and the buffet area is one  story instead  and there is only two hot  tubs  on public deck

  4. If I'm not mistaken, the Holiday is their oldest and smallest ship. I went on Carnival Celebration for my first cruise and it was nice enough. But after going on some bigger/newer ships it would be hard to go back to small. I understand your reasoning though, some people don't want to pay for the hugeness of the ship as I myself love to find the best bargain for a cruise. But I like the newer ships too, the rooms are better and all the lounges and areas are much nicer. Its a personal call.

My aunt sneaked on a bottle of Vodka in her bag, to make her own cocktails. They will x-ray all bags when you check in but apparently they don't look too closely. I'd probably put it in a bag that you are not carrying on. They have such a large amount of checked through luggage and the pressure to have them all delivered by dinner time that bottles of liquor are probably overlooked. That said, I wouldn't put a bottle in there that you can't stand to lose. You are not supposed to sneak alcohol onboard and they can confascate it. I might also try several smaller bottles of liquor, the mini bar size. Those would probably be much more difficult to detect. I've also brought my own bottled water on and some people bring some soft drinks. This is ok if you do it in small quantities.
