I am a conservative, yet I still find it ironic that That Republicans are for "family values" and yet it is the Republican Party that produced a divorced President (Reagan) and a divorced nominee (McCain)?

  1. I will give them credit for one thing.  Their propaganda machine is second to none.  Unfortunately, this country does not need propaganda, it needs the truth.

smsmith - just how many times do you think adultery was a factor in all those divorces.....  most , if not all..........

  2. Oh now you just opened the door wide for the Bill Clinton and John Edwards argument and one was a president and one was a candidate. GO figure , ha ha , try again .

  3. "Ironic" or hypocritical?

If Reagan and McCain want to ban divorce, then I guess you could say that they want to prohibit people from making the same mistakes they had made in their past. But I've never heard that they want to ban divorce.

  4. Let me be the first to tell you that your not a conservative! Family values are one father and one MOTHER (my Biblical reference) who are in their kids lives, divorced or not! Teaching these kids to be responsible for their own actions, giving them the best education possible and plenty of love, so they can grow up and pass it along to their kids.

Just as many democrats as republicans get and are divorced (if not more). Let me throw a couple of  big name dems at ya as an example. Kerry, Kennedy. Does that mean your anti-family?

  5. i think its MORE ironic how many people misuse the word "ironic"

  6. McCain also cheated on his first wife! An adulterous divorcee!

  7. I'd rather support divorce than adultery. For someone that calls himself a Republican I doubt you are.

  8. So you're saying that divorced people no longer have "family values?"  I'm not divorced myself, but I know people that have been and it doesn't change the way they behave or make them horrible, wicked people.  Reagan was a fantastic president, what in the world does it matter that he was divorced??  Plus, we don't know the exact details surrounding peoples' divorces, so it's not up to us to judge them.  I find it ironic that you're asking this question during a time when over half of all marriages end in divorce...

  9. Have you noticed that politics are one of the most contradicting inventions of all time?

  10. But they were both "Really Sorry" about it...I guess that makes it okay.

  11. So being a republican, a conservative, for family values and even a fervent Christian somehow immunizes you from making mistake let less just being human?

I didn't know it was a pre requisite. I think it is time we start peeling the skin off the stereotypes.

  12. isnt it ironic BILL AND EDWARDS CHEATED, NOT DIVORCED go figure which is the bad one.

lol are you trying to put down the president that won us the cold war, isnt that ironic that everyone thinks it is ironic

  13. Yep, it's tuf to put up with all the bad, but it's better than what The Dems have to offer.

  14. Isn't that kind of like how the Dems are supposed to be the anti-war party, but Biden voted to authorize the Iraq war and supports military intervention in Sudan?
