Anyone Ever Traveled to Cancun?

Question

I really want to go to Mexico before I go back to college! I need some summer fun in the sun. Has anyone ever been to Cancun? What about the Riu Palace Las Americas? Do you know if this is a good hotel? It looks awesome, but I want to know for sure before I go. Xel-Ha looks like so much fun. Is it? I really want to hear from some people who have been!

We went to Cancun 2 summers ago and had a blast.  We stayed at the Riu Cancun because we had a few recommendations from people who said it was awesome, and it was cheaper than the Riu Palace by a fair bit.  They are next door to each other, and Riu Palace guests can use the Riu Cancun facilities, but not vice versa.

In any case, we loved our hotel.  Everything about it was really nice, and we'd stay at the same place if we went back.

We didn't go to Xel-Ha, but I've heard great things about it.  We spent some time at Isla Mujeres and really enjoyed that.

I've been to cancun AND I've stayed at the Riu Palace Las Americas twice now.  I love that resort--it has a great central location to bars and a mall is right across the street!  It's really nice...two great pools, the staff is really friendly and helpful and you can go next door to the Riu Cancun too when you stay there.  I highly recommend it to you!  Also, Xel-Ha is a lot of fun too and if you're out in that area try to go see the Mayan Ruins at Tulum as well.  Have fun and be safe!

I have stayed at the RPLA 4 times and will be there again this December. I have never been disapointed with anthing there. I have been to Cancun 10+ times since 2001 and the RPLA is the ONLY resort we have gone back to. Location is great, food is very good, service is second to none!!

haven't been to the riu palace but i know people who have and they say it's the best place to stay in cancun. last year  my husband and i stayed at the iberostar grand paraiso in the rivera maya.  it's an all couples place so i don't know if that will do it for you.  anyway the hotel was  just BEAUTIFUL.  we toured cancun and where ever you stay you cannot go wrong, cancun is just a dream. playa del carmen is a great place and isla de las mujeres is great too.  have fun on your trip

Cancun is like Las Vegas on the water so if you like that atmosphere......

Xel-Ha or Xcaret are both great fun for a day.

Cancun is a lot of fun!!! I went with my parents and some friends. How much money would you have on this trip that really matters because on they way back we shared a car with some college boys and they were complaining how expensive the food was and next time they would bring some food from home. Well we went to Mayan Ruins not too much fun there just learn about history. Also went to Isla mujeres swam with the dolphins. Theres also a lot of clubs so i think you'll have fun!
