Due to health problems I can go at anytime... which scares me like it would any other mother. My doctor thinks we may have to do a csection around 35 weeks... has anyone delivered around this time and if so was your baby ok? How long did he or she stay in the NICU?

Any info would be great!

Thank you!

  1. I had 2 of my boys the day I turned 36 weeks, one an elective caesarian due to a placenta previa, the other due to a haemmorage.

My first son I got the steriod shots to help mature his lungs, and he was born very healthy, my second one he took a little bit to get breathing, but apart from that he was fine also!

My first went home a week later (more so because of me, not him!), and my next son went home 4 days later. Babies born around then tend to still do very well, so don't worry!

The best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy and your new family member!

  2. my cousin actually had to deliver at 24 weeks, her baby had no complications besides that it was too small to go home...and my SIL had hers at 35 weeks, her stayed in the NICU for 2 weeks...

  3. I had my daughter at 32 weeks as they couldn't stop my labour, She had to go into NICU for 6 week's where she was in a humidicrib for 5 weeks and on 75% oxygen as she couldn't breath by herself for very long, She was also fed through a tube in her nose and had to have light therapy for severe jaundice

After being in the NICU for 6 weeks she was flown back to our local hospital where she stayed for another week then i got to bring her home (although the doc's wanted her to stay in another week) She's now a healthy happy 2 1/2 yr old.

  4. My friend had her baby at 28 weeks and her baby weighed 2lbs14oz.  The baby spent about 2 months in the NICU but has not really had any problems since.  She is now a beautiful, healthy 5 year old little girl!!  Best of luck to you!

  5. I had a friend who was due on December 11 and had her baby November 11. He was perfectly healthy and went home 3 or 4 days later. Good luck.

  6. i had two perfectly healthy boys at 37 weeks. no time in NICU and we were home 48 hours later. best of luck to you =)

  7. a csection would be done only after the baby is atleast 2kg in the womb. u dont have to be too much worried about that. u can have a normal delivery, if u would take care of ur health and do things as the doctor says, about the medication, rest, etc.

  8. At 35 weeks, your child is very likely to be just fine.  My son was born at 32.5 weeks and is fine (they do developmental assessments at 6 months and 12 months, and at the 12 month assessment they said he didn't need to be followed any longer.  He is fourteen months, and is talking in 4 word sentences, walking and healthy).  He was in the NICU for 3.5 weeks and had his share of issues for awhile afterwards (nothing major, but he came home on a monitor to make sure he continued to breathe, and he had reflux for months).  Every day that you go past 32 weeks reduces the  odds that your baby will be in the NICU for very long.  Most of the babies we saw while we were there were only in for a few days.  And I know two babies that were a month early and that weren't kept in the NICU at all.   So don't worry about it too much.  The technology is outstanding these days, and babies younger than 30 weeks are surviving without major health problems.

  9. Calm down. breath.breath deeper!! LoL. YOU will be fine. i had my twins at 31 weeks. one was 3 # and 5 oz and the boy was 3#'s and 2.8 oz. they did great. they only needed slight oxygen for 24 hours. i couldnt hold them for a week, which was hard, but i got thru it with family. They were in the nicu for 5 weeks. just to grow tho. i took them home together on the same day weighing in at one was 4 pound 3 oz and the other 4 pounds and 8 oz. these days the med. tech. is so advanced nothing should happen to your little one if hes born even at 29 weeks!!! i just saw on tv today on discovery health a baby born weighing 11 onuces!!! YES !! Eleven. and lived. and lived healthy. so i dont think you have anything to worry about. while it can be stressful.....very much stressful in the nicu, it will go by so fast you wont be able to believe it good luck and ill keep you in my preyers

  10. My oldest son was born at 36 weeks, he was 6 lbs 13 oz.  He was born by c-section.  No time in NICU.  My twins were born at 37 weeks, 5 lbs 6 oz and 6 lb 6 oz.  They spent not time in NICU.  My daughter was born at 36 weeks, 7 lbs 6 oz. No time in NICU.

Just because your baby is early, doesn't mean that they will have to go to the NICU.  Right now, just try to not worry (I know, it is hard not to).  The less stress you have will be better for both you and the baby. Follow the doctor's advise (I am sure that you already are) and please get plenty or rest.

    Good Luck.
