  1. You could try some diluted jello, but fluids will be the most to expect for a couple more days.  I found that as long as I kept my throat moist from drinking, it was easier to swallow.  Keep it lubricated, and keep a humidifier going nearby.

I had a big mac attack after my surgery, and had to wait about a week and a half before I could get it down.  I feel your pain.

  2. I just had a tonsillectomy about 5 weeks ago so I know exactly what you going through.  I was a walking saliva factory; I couldn't believe how much saliva one human body could produce.

Remember, you need to stay hydrated.  You need to make sure you are drinking enough fluids.  I know it is difficult to swallow right now, but trust me, it can be done.  Make sure you are taking your pain medications as ordered.  If it says to take them every 4 hours as needed then take them every 4 hours regardless.  It is easier to manage the pain before it gets out of control than to try to relieve it once it becomes too bad.

As far as starving, sorry, you're going to have to just buck up and take it.  I know, easier said than done.  Trust me, you'll get through it.  Each day you wake up you will find that it is easier to swallow and hurts just a little bit less.  Before you know it you'll be eating your old favorites.  Stick with the liquid diet for now and you should be doing just fine.
