Anyone Know the Title or Author????

Well to start off, its a sequel of another book. And i'm pretty sure the hardback versions cover colour is a shade of red.

the book starts out something like this: kids can change into any animal they want to until a certain age. well this one girl realizes her birthday is coming up and she has to choose an animal's form to "keep" for the rest of her life. i think then she turns into a mouse because she's in this house/cabin. then she goes through a mouse hole into the wall.

i'm not sure what either book is called but this is definitely the sequel. there might be another sequel, but i dont know. an this is NOT animorphs. trust me.

i remember that it was about...
reverse anthropomorphism. The book that was NOT animorphs for sure. yeah the girl turned into a mouse. there was an age when they couldn't change anymore... I am pretty sure it was a lady author...

i remember it ended [SPOILER ALERT] by the kids turning into dragons. then one got shot down by a jet and the other kid thought they were dead so they flew back home and hid. but the kid really just turned into a phoenix at the last second. they also turned into whales.. and mammoths.. and the girl like turning into a rat so she could talk to her pet rat...
