Anyone Xanax / Alprazolam?

Has anyone taken this medication and if yes, how did it make you feel....did it help?

yes it does help. takes the edge off anxiety and relaxes  you. you will pay for it the next day, however. So if you feel irritable the next day, you can just remind yourself its the Xanax hangover and then you will be fine. If you take it for a backache, for instance, it works great but your back will hurt twice as bad the next day. So it gives you relief but its temporary. But it sure is great to have if you are feeling frantic and highly upset. It doesn't take away the problems, but it does make you not so upset about the problems and gives relief.

This is a medication to help with anxiety generally, it can be prescribed for other reasons though.

I was on it for a little while. It has very addictive ingredients which can be dangerous if you have an addictive tendencies. Being honest with the doctor is very important.

It calmed me down, not too much so I couldn't function. It was just the right amount to slow me down that others could be around me but not bad enough that I was in bed all day. Does that make sense?

I did get off of it after 6 weeks or so. The only reason that I stopped taking it is that I opened up to the doctor and told her about my past alcohol abuse, my current addiction, and other times when I have been addictive to things.

I also have clients who are currently using Xanax. It really helps them. One is using it because of an eating disorder. It helps her to slow down and think before she acts. One is using it because of anxiety issues. He just gave his first speech in front of 5 people. When I met him, he couldn't even sit still to talk to me, he had a hard time looking at me, he was obviously having anxiety issues. His boss was one of the people who referred him to therapy because of the anxiety.

So, it does work for a lot of people, they just need to be careful if they have had a problem with addictions in the past.

i take this med for panic attacks and also if i start to have high anxiety...it calms me down but this is not a med that you take all the time..yes it does help
