  1. This may sem harsh but i personally thin you should not tape them.

your hands will blister but then they calisk over(i think thats how u spell it)

Tape for me always just comes of when i need it rowing

So i opt just to not use it except for maybe 1 finger at te most if the blister is bleeding or something

Have fun at the reest of the camp

    Rowing is addictively hard

  2. I think a pair of weight lifting gloves or cycling gloves will protect your hands more than tape will.

  3. This is an ongoing question with rowers.  You will get some strange answers like pee on your hands....

I have the sort of skin where I don't really get blisters in normal rowing (a couple of hours a day), but I have done the CPR (115-mile rowing race) a couple of times and found that I get "hot spots"--sort of pre-blisters--after about 60 miles.  I found that baseball batting gloves protected my hands, and I could still row, while the padding in other gloves made it impossible for me to feather the oar.

Tape seems to come off when you row (and makes a mess of the oar handle for the next person) so maybe you could tape and then wear gloves to keep the tape in place.

    Just watch out for infection!

  4. As a rowing coach I get this question all the time. First and foremost you should make sure you keep the blisters clean. The last thing you want to do is have them become infected.

Next-you can tape them if you like. I have no recommended method-but you would want something that would be comfortable and still allow you to miantain your grip.

Also-in lieu of tape-you could alwasy put Nu-Skin (at your local drugstore) or super glue (yes super glue) on you blisters to seal them up. Note-both methods will burn a little bit at first, but we alwasys keep both in our first aid kit.

Lastly-blisters are oftne the result of squeezing your handle (or handles) too tightly. I have a lot of noobies who start up who do that and I also have some who get the grip thing down pat early and never get blisters.

    Anyway-happy rowing!
