I used to pass through Biloela fairly often once and stayed overnight there once.  It's a typical prosperous rural town and would be safer than many places.  Supports coal mining, power stations and farming.  The place always looked clean and tidy and there were a lot of newish buildings about.  

Could be hot in summer, some light frosts in winter.  

I used to work in the central Queensland coal industry.  Most miners are family men and are OK, so don't worry about that.  

I'd have no hesitation in taking a family there.

Put it this way, there has been no big media attention for the place in terms of crime or drugs, so it seems relativly safe.
