Me and 2 friends, all girls aged 22, have just booked a 2 week holiday to Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria this July. We chose this rather than a club 18-30's holiday, as we do like a few drinks but nothing that boystrous! We're really looking forward to it but we've never been to this resort before (I came as a child but obviously can't remember anything!). We're really just going for some relaxation, to get a good tan and have some fun girly nights out, so would appreciate any recommendations that people have for bars, restaurants, shops etc to visit. Also how much money do people usually take (to last 2 weeks)? And what time should we aim to get to the beach for if we want a parasol? (My friend is a red head and fair skinned so needs a parasol as she burns easily!!) although we don't really do early mornings! Any suggestions would be useful. Thanks!!

  1. Everyone's tastes are very different and there are loads of bars and clubs in Puerto Rico, so best to ask when you get there!

Money really varies depending on if you are going self-catering or if you have some food included? and if going out what type of restaurants you prefer-like England you can have a cheap meal-you can also spend a fortune! and it also depends on how much you do spend on alcohol! Personally I would take at least 50euros per person per day. But don't carry too much cash-the exchange rate is pretty good if you withdraw money with a credit card or cashpoint card, most restaurants will take credit cards-so just carry the cash you need to buy drinks!

Parasols on the beach are a rip-off...it's best to buy beach umbrellas before you leave UK and then you also have the choice of going when and where you want on the beach instead of having to go to the crowded areas!

  2. i was born in puerto Rico so my advice is to bring lots of money to buy souvenirs and watch out for scam artist also for all the stuff there is like boat curses it awesome

  3. The beach in Puerto Rico is quite small (compared to other beaches in Gran Canaria) so it get crowded. Try a day trip to Maspalomas, Amadores or Mogan and you'll get a different view of the island.

Puerto Rico has a lot of shops, bars&pubs, discos but if you are a group of girls take extra care during the night.

Don't miss the water park, the submarine (in Mogan), a party on a pirate's ship, or a day trip with a catamaran (serving local food).

    I'm sure you'll have a great time.
