yeah im sure your thinkin impossible, but if a train carriage becomes detached in the tunnel (which i know they can) you might be asked to walk to the station...?

  1. Unlikely.. If they had to walk (most likely an engineer or maintenance person) then they would be wearing shoes probably! And rubber ones so as to be not electrocuted and that.. :D Could be an interesting death sport though, make it to the next station before you get flattened! :D Wonder if we could start a trend amongst the chavs?

  2. never been to london

  3. You mean can it be done because of the third rail? They wouldn't let you off the train carriage before the power has been cut. After all, many shoes don't have rubber soles either, and shoes may also be wet and conduct electricity that way. Not to mention the risk of anyone slipping or tripping and falling...

I've been barefoot on public transport but here they rarely allow you off the carriage at all, even on the trains, which have overhead power lines that you couldn't touch. Reason is that it's hard to get off without a platform, and they don't want people walking along the tracks when the train or power has been restored and they want to be able to resume service. They'd have to make 100% sure that there wasn't anyone left on or near the tracks before they could resume service so they keep people confined to the carriages, sometimes for hours. (I've never been in one of those trains that got stuck but it's on the news sometimes). Personally I'd rather walk, but they just don't give you the choice!

As for the risk of injury, if you're such a regular barefooter that you don't have footwear with you, you'll probably be okay. I'm barefoot for eleven years in many quite littered places and I've NEVER had a cut. Feet that are habitually barefoot are much tougher than people who rarely go barefoot would think. And those who'd only slipped off their shoes for the ride but have not such callused feet would just slip their footwear back on if they saw lots of litter, I'd assume.

  4. IF YOU ASK ME .THE ANSWER IS NO

  5. Why would you be on the tube barefoot in any case? Using escalators would be dangerous for starters!

In an emergency situation, when a train is broken down in the tunnel and can't be moved, they would just turn off the power and ask you to walk along the tracks to the nearest station, regardless of what you're wearing. I don't think they would pay too much attention to your footwear, or lack thereof.

  6. for safety reasons they would NOT allow you barefoot there is too much rubbish, used needles, broken glass asbestos down there for them to allow that.

I doubt wether they would allow you on the tube barefoot for health and safety restrictions. i.e if you cut your feet they would be scared of being sued

  7. You wouldn't actually be asked to walk on the rails themselves, just on the wooden bits in between.
